Properties: Colorless orthorhombic system crystalline or white amorphous powder, relative density 4.5015, melting point 1580, nontoxic, almost insoluble in water, ethanol and acid, soluble in hot and concentrated sulfuric acid. Dried, it is easy to conglomerate.

Application: Used as raw materials or fillers of paint, printing ink, plastics, rubber and battery, surface coating agent of photographic paper and coated art paper, textile sizing agent. And it can be used as glass refining agent to eliminate bubbles and increase gloss; as well as protective wall coverings for anti-radiation. It also can be used in the trades of pottery and porcelain, enamel, spices and dyestuff, etc. It is also the raw material for producing other barium salts.
